First Parish in Malden

Sunday, April 26, 2 – 5 p.m. - All-Faiths Festival: A Tour of the Malden Houses of Worship
Come and get acquainted with the many and diverse houses of worship in the city of Malden. You are welcome to walk, drive, or take free bus transportation to visit as many houses of worship as you wish. The tour begins officially at Anthony’s Restaurant, 105 Canal Street, where light refreshments are served and a map and directory are provided. You may begin your tour at any location, however. Each house of worship presents a unique program to greet guests. The All Faiths Festival is a not-for-profit organization with no direct sponsorship by any one faith. Representatives from 20 participating houses of worship in Malden have joined in the planning of this event, meeting monthly to plan and coordinate activities. Friday, May 1, Noon - Lunch with the Minister
Durgin Hall. Rev. Horst invites you to lunch! Bring a bag lunch and Rev. Horst prepares the soup. Coffee and beverages provided.

Sunday, May 3, 9 a.m. - First Sunday Prayer Circle
Richardson Chapel. Join Rev. Horst for an hour of contemplative prayer and silent meditation prior to Sunday morning worship. Bring a reading, poem, or prayer to share or an object or photograph for the altar. Childcare provided

Saturday, May 16, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. - Spring Outing
Members and friends of the Saugus and Malden congregations gather at Breakheart Reservation on Saturday, May 16, from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. for our annual walk through the woods! We meet at the information center, 177 Forest Street, Saugus. Bring sunscreen, water, and a brown bag lunch to enjoy. Saugus Action Volunteers for the Environment and Friends of Breakheart celebrate the reservation’s 75th anniversary with a “It’s New to You” swap from noon to 4 p.m. You may bring an item in usable and good condition to leave or take another treasure home with you or both!

Boston Drum Circle gathers on May 17
Join the rhythm of the sacred drumming circle with master drummer, dancer, and teacher Kelle Sparta on Sunday afternoon, May 17, from 2 – 6 for the inaugural drum and dance event with the Boston Drum Circle: Dance, Jump, and Jive! Friday, May 22, 7 p.m., Community Movie Series presents Planet B-Boy
Richardson Chapel. This Tribeca Film Festival selection presents the underground world of break dancing, charting the highs and lows of five B-boy teams practicing for the “Battle of the Year.” Combining dance footage from Japan, Germany, South Korea, France, and the U.S., documentarian Benson Lee reveals that break dancing hasn't faded into history but has evolved into a remarkable art form. The 95-minute film is not rated. Admission is free, refreshments are served, and a discussion follows the movie screening. Co-sponsored by the Social Justice Committee at the First Parish

Elm Street entrance. All welcome to the rededication of the garden created in memory of two beloved church members. Made possible through a generous gift from Eloise Wellington

Malden Arts hosts salon on June 4
Malden Arts hosts its third salon at the First Parish on Thursday, June 4, from 7 - 9 p.m.. Designed to be a quarterly, open-ended forum for the arts, the salon provides opportunities for discussion, networking, and collaboration for those interested in furthering the arts in Malden.
